Lust for Light
“Lust for Light”
Lust for Light is a series of paintings exploring the longing to be illuminated. The women portrayed occupy different stages of life and inner worlds: a pregnant body carrying life, a refined and ambitious career woman, a woman open to love and desire, and a woman curled into her private universe. Each is distinct, yet all share the same silent yearning—a pull toward a light that affirms their existence.
Here, the “light” is not merely hope or salvation; it is recognition, acknowledgment, a space that allows one to simply be. It may arise from the life force within, or from the emotions, connections, and affirmations of the world around them. It is both the projection of desire and the spark of self-awareness.
Desire, in this series, is not about possession or consumption. It is the instinctive movement toward illumination. The women’s bodies, gestures, and expressions serve as vessels for this impulse. They are not objects of observation—they are active seekers of light.
Lust for Light presents a state in which, within their confined or restrained worlds, desire persists quietly, awaiting the moment it can be awakened. And when the light finally touches them, life begins to unfold.
