Resting in Emptiness
“Resting in Emptiness” Series
During the creation of the Resting in Emptiness series, I did not engage in conscious thinking. There was no theme, judgment, or choice; awareness temporarily withdrew, and body and mind were nearly still.
The paintings emerged in a state of complete comfort, as if body, mind, and spirit had all paused. In this process, the images were not conceived but directly transcribed— perception preceded understanding, and the hand simply followed what it saw.
This painting does not aim to express, nor does it carry narrative. It is more like a quiet transcription of reality. When thought disappears, painting occurs in a state of “emptiness,” becoming rest itself.
